Hi, hello, come on in.
We’re so happy you’re here. Whether you want to say hi, send us a tip, ask a question, or just tell us about your week, this is the right place. Pull up a chair.
A few quick things, just so you know
Getting your emails makes us really happy, really really happy. I even have a folder on my computer called “nice things people said.” I open it on bad days like other women open a bottle of wine. So yes, please write to us. We are not too cool. We will write back.
With that said, I want to be honest about a couple things. First is about the timing. I am a sole proprietor with a small team which means I am not a customer service department. I personally screen every single message before I send it out, which means we are typically several days behind. A week is common. I’ve even, embarrassingly, taken three weeks (sorry, Diane). If you haven’t heard from me, you are simply being neglected. I assure you it is intentional.
The second thing is, we receive a LOT of pitches. Brands and PR people, we appreciate that you take the time to send these, and we do read all of them, but keep in mind that we typically say no to around ninety-five percent of pitches. This isn’t a personal thing – we just do not do sponsored content (as we have stated on the about page, and yes, we do mean it). If you have something valuable to our readers, we will absolutely consider it. Please don’t take offense to our polite no.
The last thing, and most importantly: if you are writing to share something personal like a story or a difficult question, I want you to know I read those very slowly and with all my heart. I especially love those. I may not have the best answer, but I will sit with it for a while.
All right! Moving past the formal stuff, we will look at all the different ways you can reach us for the different topics. Just choose what feels best and we will take it from there.

Things people ask us kind of a lot
You can find the answer to these questions right here, saving us both a step. If you don’t, just contact us anyway.
How long does it take to hear back from you?
Typically three to seven days. It could take longer if it’s a busy week, I catch a cold, or if Pickle the cat again knocked my laptop off the desk. If it has been more than two weeks feel free to nudge us. We don’t mind and we won’t be offended.
Can I send you a product to review?
Feel free to send it, but we cannot guarantee coverage, and we will not give a positive review just because something arrived. If we do write about it, we will be honest, including if we don’t like it. That’s how we operate here.
Do you do sponsored posts or paid placements?
We don’t do paid placements, sponsored content, and/or paid links, and we have no intention of doing so in the future. Feel free to share your opinions, but we’re saying what we want to say.
I’d like to write for Outside My Nest. How do that?
Please send a short pitch and 1 or 2 writing samples to our writing inbox. We open contributor spots a few times a year. Everything is read, even if we cannot take on your writing.
Can I republish or quote something you wrote?
It’s fine to include a short quote along with a back link. However, we do not permit full re-posts. If you wish to share something longer, feel free to ask. For non-commercial purposes, we tend to be quite flexible.
Something on the site looks broken. Where do I report it?
Please use the above form and select something on the site isn’t working. A screenshot would be very helpful. We’ll get it fixed ASAP and thank you for letting us know.
